Session 1 – David Miller, CBCP AMBCI

Senior Emergency Preparedness Manager

Operational Risk Office, Guardian Life Insurance

This presentation will discuss the elements of the report tool Guardian Life Insurance Company

uses to document the strategy and format used when performing site risk assessments.

Business Continuity professionals with responsibility for assessing existing properties or sites, as

well as prospective locations connected to mergers and acquisitions, will receive helpful

suggestions to ramp up an initial assessment program or supplement existing tools. Attendees

will learn about the methodology behind the report components, as well as sources of data and

information covering fields of potential risks.

Session 2 – Terrence Lee

leads Strategic BCP’s Governance, Risk & Compliance (GRC) strategy

Organizations increasingly rely on critical, “Tier 1” vendors for essential products and services.

This reliance increases their exposure to various types of risk, including regulatory risk,

reputational risk, information security risk, and financial risk. Vendor Risk Management

intersects with Business Continuity Management and Operational Risk Management where

thirdparty vendors provide critical products, services, or have access to critical company

information. This session explores how to define a practice for managing vendor risk while

addressing contingency and recovery capabilities.
