This chapter’s membership includes representatives from a variety of businesses, large and small, in central and western NY as well as parts of Pennsylvania. It is open to any professional in upstate New York who is engaged in business continuity, disaster recovery, or emergency managment.
The 2020 Chapter Board
President – Jay Williams
Jay is a Vice President at M&T Bank
He is an Army veteran with a largely technical background. He earned his CBCP in 2011 and brings 11 years of business continuity management experience to the chapter. Jay has benefited greatly as an EGLACP member since 2007 and is grateful for the opportunity to give back and serve in this position. He is currently completing a business degree at SUNY ESC, while managing the planning team for M&T Bank and patiently enduring the teenage years of his three children. His focus while serving is to maximize the collaborative value provided to ACP members individually, the companies they represent and the communities in which they live.
Vice President - Scot Peluso
Scot is a Business Continuity professional who works for Empower Federal Credit Union. He has over a decade of experience in developing Business Continuity programs in a multi-national utility and a 24-branch federal credit union. Scot has led the test phase of a new Disaster Recovery data center roll out for nationalgrid, and then coordinated all DR Testing and Business Continuity activities for their US IT department while also directing an actual recovery in place of the production data center after a failure of critical equipment caused a data center power outage. He has also significantly updated and upgraded the Business Continuity (including a major overhaul of the pandemic plan both before and during the COVID-19 pandemic) and Safety programs at his Credit Union. Scot holds a Certified Business Continuity Professional certification.
Scot is devoted to his family. He is an avid swimmer and skier, having exceeded the NY State speed limit on skis. He is an experienced gardener and a budding home chef/baker. Scot is also a certified Rescue Diver. His current passions are the guitar and learning how to make a proper vegetable beef soup for his wife.
Secretary – Cory Tylenda
Cory is currently the Business Continuity Manager at ESL Federal Credit Union
Currently the Business Continuity Manager at ESL Federal Credit Union! Prior to joining ESL, he was employed at his alma mater, the University of Rochester, as a Senior Analyst on the Business Continuity, IT Risk Management and Compliance team.
In this role, Cory was responsible for the business continuity management system of the University of Rochester which includes academic, research and healthcare, and EPIC disaster recovery planning.
Prior to joining the University of Rochester, he was employed at Paychex, Inc. as a Business Continuity analyst. His responsibilities included availability management, disaster recovery planning, and serving as the engineer/administrator of Continuity Software’s AvailabilityGuard™
Treasurer – Sue Miller
Sue Miller is a Certified Business Continuity Professional
10+ years of experience in the field. Her focus is on all aspects of business continuity including line of business planning, emergency response planning, incident response and exercising. She has 25 years banking experience with M&T Bank, First Niagara and currently KeyBank. Sue is the past Public Relations Director of the Eastern Great Lakes ACP chapter.
Director of Programs - Dave Comstock
David Comstock is a graduate from Erie County College, graduating with honors in May 2018 with an Associate’s of Science degree in Emergency Management. Currently he continues his studies with SUNY Empire State College where he is currently working on a Bachelor of Science in Business, Management and Economics with a concentration Human Resource Management.
David began his career with M&T Bank in 2013 by joining the loss mitigation department in Customer Asset Management where he continues to work today. David is passionate about diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging and is a graduate of the Diversity and Inclusion Academy presented through the Buffalo Niagara Partnership. In addition to his current daily responsibilities David is a committee member of the Pride WNY employee resource group where he works to develop and lead programing such as professional development workshops, speaker series and aid in coordination of M&T Bank’s involvement in the annual Buffalo Pride Parade and Celebration.
Additionally, David is a volunteer with the American Red Cross of Western and Central New York. In this capacity David volunteers under several branches of service of that include volunteer services, disaster services, financial and grant services and Pride committee. Through this service David has been able to present the benefits and opportunities of volunteering with the American Red Cross, complete smoke alarm installation and fire safety education during Sound the Alarm and is a trainer presenter for the Citizen Preparedness Workshop (CPC). The CPC is designed to educate attendees on how to prepare, respond and recovery to potential emergencies in their community.
Public Relations – Carolyn Skaros
Carolyn V. Skaros, a Senior Contingency Analyst within the Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity Department at M&T Bank
Currently she coordinates and consults as a subject matter expert on business resiliency planning. Additionally, she supports the Corporate Emergency Response Process and assists with Corporate Operational Risk efforts. Carolyn has been a member of EGLACP since 2016 and has found it to be greatly beneficial in her new role in Business Continuity. Carolyn graduated from Niagara University with a dual Bachelor of Science Degrees in Psychology and Criminal Justice in 2008. She then pursued and achieved a Master’s Degree in Criminal Justice Administration at Niagara University in 2009.
Director of Information – Jay Reece
Jay currently works at Paychex as a Business Continuity & Disaster Recovery Specialist
Jay is a lifelong resident of Rochester, NY. He currently works for Paychex as a Business Continuity Analyst. At Paychex his responsibilities focus primarily on Disaster Recovery and include the development, implementation, exercising and maintenance of the business continuity and disaster recovery plans.
Membership Director – Shari Vail
I have been with BCBSWNY for 10 ½ years in varied capacities such as IT project management, business relationship scoping for new programs and currently as IT Service Continuity Manager. Being in numerous roles has offered me the chance to learn in depth knowledge about the business areas. Services I currently perform across the organization cover business continuity, disaster recovery and other support efforts. I handle training for plan building within the system and perform DR exercise tracking of issues/lessons learned. Additionally, I provide administration for the BC DR software system.
I have served on the EGLACP Board in a few different roles over the years since 2003. EGLACP has offered me a wealth of knowledge. I also have served on the Blues Association Business Continuity Board in various roles including coordination for their annual BC DR conference in Chicago IL.
My prior work efforts included providing BC & DR Services in the Automotive Industry involving annual mass notification call tree exercises, tracking plan activity globally and a few other areas of expertise.
Education and Seminars Director - Dr. Michael C. Redmond
Michael has three books that were published in 2018; Mastering Your Introduction to Cyber Security, Mastering Business Continuity Management and Mastering Your Work Life Balance. They are available in hard cover, soft cover and kindle version from Barnes and Nobles, Amazon and other sites.
Michael spent four years on active duty with the U.S. Army and an additional 17 years in the National Guard and Reserves She retired at the rank of Lieutenant Colonel.
Michael possesses a PhD, Psychoneurology (Crisis Psychology), an MBA from Fordham University, Advanced Masters Certificate from American Institute of Banking, a B.A., Communication Arts & Management, and is a graduate of
US Army Command & General Staff College. She is currently enrolled in PECB University, Masters Program in Risk Management.
Michael possesses over 21 ISO certifications as Lead Implementer and Lead Auditor, including Information Security Management, Lead Cyber Security Manager, Security Incident Response, Business Continuity, Project Management, Risk Management, Asset Management, Environmental Management, Quality Management, Social Responsibility, Anti Bribery Management, Security and Resilience Management, Emergency Management, Management Consultancy Services. Her other certifications include PMP, FBCI, MBCP, CEM, and GDPR. She teaches ISO certification courses and is an Assessor for new FBCI Applications.
