EGLACP Chapter makes a difference, donates $1200 to local outreach centers 

COVID-19 has been tough on everyone.  Our first responders and healthcare workers are on the front lines. The losses suffered by everyone too great to list.  Some of the hardest hit are the local outreach centers who provide shelter and meals to needy families who struggle everyday. Now with massive layoffs and furloughed employees these shelters are more important than ever.  The EGLACP Chapter wanted to give back so we selected two local outreach centers in Buffalo, NY and Rochester, NY and donated $600 to each of them. Straight From the Heart Community Outreach and Response to Love Center were selected.  The out pouring of thanks and appreciation received by each of these centers has been extremely rewarding.  (see below)

This chapter’s membership includes representatives from a variety of businesses, large and small, in central and western NY as well as parts of Pennsylvania. It is open to any professional in upstate New York who is engaged in business continuity, disaster recovery, or emergency managment.

President – Jay Williams

ACP Jay Williams

Jay is a Vice President at M&T Bank 

He is an Army veteran with a largely technical background. He earned his CBCP in 2011 and brings 11 years of business continuity management experience to the chapter. Jay has benefited greatly as an EGLACP member since 2007 and is grateful for the opportunity to give back and serve in this position. He is currently completing a business degree at SUNY ESC, while managing the planning team for M&T Bank and patiently enduring the teenage years of his three children. His focus while serving is to maximize the collaborative value provided to ACP members individually, the companies they represent and the communities in which they live.


Vice President - Cory Tylenda


Cory is currently the Business Continuity Manager at ESL Federal Credit Union

Currently the Business Continuity Manager at ESL Federal Credit Union! Prior to joining ESL, he was employed at his alma mater, the University of Rochester, as a Senior Analyst on the Business Continuity, IT Risk Management and Compliance team.

In this role, Cory was responsible for the business continuity management system of the University of Rochester which includes academic, research and healthcare, and EPIC disaster recovery planning.

Prior to joining the University of Rochester, he was employed at Paychex, Inc. as a Business Continuity analyst. His responsibilities included availability management, disaster recovery planning, and serving as the engineer/administrator of Continuity Software’s AvailabilityGuard™


Secretary – Carol Janicki

Carol is currently the Vice President at Bank of America

Carol has worked in the Banking/Finance industry her entire career.  She is currently a Vice President at Bank of America and has been with the bank for 23 years holding several positions:

  • Mortgage Modification Supervisor
  • Charged off Recovery Loans Supervisor
  • Credit Card Team Leader
  • Associate Experience Manager
  • Event Planner/Business Support
  • Business Continuity

 In her current role she is responsible for Business Continuity Planning and Testing for the Financial Center Channel across the United States. 

She received her Certified Business Continuity Professional certification from Disaster Recovery International and is an active member of her local Eastern Great Lakes Chapter Association of Continuity Professionals.

Through the Volunteer Program and Bank of America, Carol has had the opportunity to participate in the following organizations:

  • Lead for Women Greater Buffalo NY Chapter – Finance Director
  • Make a Wish – Wish Granter to children with life threatening illnesses
  • Girl Scout Financial Literacy Program
  • Food Bank of WNY
  • Treasurer for Bowmansville United Methodist Church

Carol Janicki was born in Coudersport, Pennsylvania and has lived in Buffalo, New York since 1972.  Carol has been married to Thaddeus Janicki since 1980 and has two grown Children, Ted & Kevin Janicki.  Carol is very dedicated to her family, job, and community.


Treasurer – Sue Miller

Sue Miller is a Certified Business Continuity Professional

10+ years of experience in the field. Her focus is on all aspects of business continuity including line of business planning, emergency response planning, incident response and exercising. She has 25 years banking experience with M&T Bank, First Niagara and currently KeyBank. Sue is the past Public Relations Director of the Eastern Great Lakes ACP chapter.


Director of Programs - Mike Weaver


Mike Weaver is a Vice President at M&T Bank specializing in technology recovery and contingency planning. He draws on fifteen year of experience supporting, designing, and administering information systems to provide meaningful guidance on resilience and fault tolerance. In his role Mike is responsible for supporting business continuity program governance as a steward for appropriate policies and standards as well as through service on committees and advisory boards. Mike believes in a human-centered approach to building sustainable business continuity programs. He has lead training workshops and table-top exercises since 2016 to build cultures of preparedness. In 2019 he presented on relationship transformation for healthier programs at the Assurance Software Incorporated SURGE Conference.

As a Certified Business Continuity Professional and member of the Town of Tonawanda Community Emergency Response Team, Mike champions a partnership between the private and public sectors to prepare for and respond to disasters. He looks forward to developing a programming calendar that supports our members, their organizations, and their communities.



Public Relations – Carolyn Skaros

Carolyn V. Skaros, a Senior Contingency Analyst within the Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity Department at M&T Bank

Currently she coordinates and consults as a subject matter expert on business resiliency planning.  Additionally, she supports the Corporate Emergency Response Process and assists with Corporate Operational Risk efforts. Carolyn has been a member of EGLACP since 2016 and has found it to be greatly beneficial in her new role in Business Continuity.  Carolyn graduated from Niagara University with a dual Bachelor of Science Degrees in Psychology and Criminal Justice in 2008.   She then pursued and achieved a Master’s Degree in Criminal Justice Administration at Niagara University in 2009.


Director of Information – Jay Reece

Jay currently works at Paychex as a Business Continuity & Disaster Recovery Specialist

Jay is a lifelong resident of Rochester, NY.  He currently works for Paychex as a Business Continuity Analyst.  At Paychex his responsibilities focus primarily on Disaster Recovery and include the development, implementation, exercising and maintenance of the business continuity and disaster recovery plans.


Membership Director – Mike Wagner

Mike is a Disaster Recovery Specialist for M&T Bank

Since 2016, he has been working with technology owners in the bank to ensure compliance with bank standards and policies. In this role, Mike is responsible for many of the administrative processes that are the foundation for maintaining disaster recovery plans in the banks planning tool. Along with his administrative responsibilities he is also a plan liaison, assisting builders and owners with yearly maintenance and testing on their plans, and how to use Assurance CM.

Mike is a member of the Association of Continuity Professionals and the Eastern Great Lakes Chapter of the Association of Continuity Professionals, as well as a voting member of the Local Emergency Planning Committee (LEPC) – Erie County.  He volunteers with Buffalo Stand Down, assisting Veterans in the city of Buffalo.  Mike resides in Orchard Park, New York with his honey bees, all 200,000 of them.

Michael has three books that were published in 2018; Mastering Your Introduction to Cyber Security,               Mastering Business Continuity Management and Mastering Your Work Life Balance. Michael spent four years on active duty with the U.S. Army and an additional 17 years in the National Guard and Reserves She retired at the rank of Lieutenant Colonel.

Michael possesses a PhD, Psychoneurology (Crisis Psychology), an MBA from Fordham University, Advanced Masters Certificate from American Institute of Banking, a   B.A., Communication Arts & Management, and is a graduate of  

US Army Command & General Staff College. She is currently enrolled in PECB University, Masters Program in Risk Management.

Michael possesses over 21 ISO certifications as Lead Implementer and Lead Auditor, including Information Security Management, Lead Cyber Security Manager, Security Incident Response, Business Continuity, Project Management, Risk Management, Asset Management, Environmental Management, Quality Management, Social Responsibility, Anti Bribery Management, Security and Resilience Management, Emergency Management, Management Consultancy Services. Her other certifications include PMP, FBCI, MBCP, CEM, and GDPR.  She teaches ISO certification courses and is an Assessor for new FBCI Applications.
