TOPIC:  Emerging Metaverse(s): Exploring web3

 

OUR: SPEAKER: Les Lascari - Father, Poker Player, & Bon Vivant

     Les is joining us to give us a "big picture" overview of the emergence and potential trends/realities/effects of alternate virtual    
     worlds, tell us how they arre likely to operate, and discuss national, global, cultural, and societal opportunities, risks and impacts.
     Why is this topic important? According to Gartner (a technological research and consulting firm that conducts research on
       technology), by 2026 (4 years from now!), 25% of people will spend at least an hour a day in "the metaverse" for a variety of reasons,
     from entertainment to work. By then, the global metaverse market is forcasted to exceed $700 billion.

     Les graduated with distinction from the U.S. Naval Academy, majoring in Mathematics. After 5 years of service as a Lieutenant, he
     spent another 5 years at Lockheed Martin as an Engineer, and then joined America Online as Principal UNIX System Architect.
     During his 5 years at AOL, Les helped AOL grow from 3 million members to over 20 million, and from a simultaneous online user
     count of under 50,000 to over 1.5 million users. Since then, he's worked as a Special Advisor at HFS Private Equity Partners LLC,
    served on a corporate board, invested in start-ups, been a regular tournament poker player, and owned a restaurant! Les is a crypto
     enthusiast and researcher, with a delightful talent for explaining fundamentals of complex topics, associated strengths/benefits/risks/
     opportunities, and what the future holds.

We serve the business community and business continuity/emergency management/disaster recovery sectors.
