The Mid-South Association of Continuity Professionals (MSACP) was formed in June, 2004 as a local chapter of International Association of Contingency Planners (ACP - now Association of Continuity Professionals). Starting with approximately 20 members, the group has more than tripled in size and attracted members from a wide variety of industries, governmental agencies and private organizations throughout the Mid-South area.

The MSACP typically meets on the second Wednesday of each month, from 2:00 – 4:30 PM, providing an environment for members to share information about the business continuity and disaster recovery fields, and improve their job performance through peer-to-peer education.

The MSACP membership represents a wide variety of industries and organizations throughout Memphis, Shelby County, and the greater Mid-South region. Those industries and organizations include entertainment and media, banking and financial, transportation and shipping, health care, information technology and telecommunications, chemical and utilities industries, as well as governmental agencies, private organizations, educational and research institutions.

ACP is a non-profit trade association dedicated to fostering continued professional growth and development in effective Contingency & Business Resumption Planning. It is the premier, non-profit trade association dedicated to the advancement of business continuity professionals. Founded in 1983 as a non-profit mutual benefit association, ACP’s membership is open to anyone with an interest in or responsibility for the varied aspects of contingency planning. Contingency planning integrates knowledge from related disciplines such as information technology, emergency response, and crisis communications to create a strategy that ensures a business will remain resilient in the face of adversity. It is a required element for successful business and government agencies. Emergency managers and business continuity planners alike address mitigation, response and recovery planning issues. ACP provides a powerful peer-to-peer networking and learning environment for its members through chapters across the country. It provides members an excellent information exchange experience as well as opportunities to set trends in the emergency response and disaster recovery fields. ACP members have the opportunity to grow professionally by developing and strengthening relationships with ACP’s public and private sector partners. This includes identification of common planning needs and potential recovery response solutions as well as networking opportunities through local and national alliances.
